Drilling Rig Falls Off 18 Wheeler

On Wednesday, September 25, a drilling rig fell off the back of an 18-wheeler traveling southbound down Interstate 35 in Dallas.  The accident was serious, made worse when the drilling rig was found to be leaking hydraulic fluid.  Dallas Fire Rescue teams responded immediately to the scene of the accident, as well as Hazmat teams.  There were no injuries reported.

Trucking accidents are some of the most serious on the road.  Trucks carrying equipment, vehicles, or other loads can cause particularly serious accidents.  Traveling at high speeds and unable to stop immediately, these accidents often involve serious property damage and even fatalities.

Cars sharing the road with 18 wheelers should keep their distance, allow trucks space and time to maneuver their vehicles properly.  Trying to slip by an 18 wheeler or following too closely can lead to a major accident.  Click here for more on why not to follow tailgate an 18 wheeler.
