LA officer dies in truck accident

On Saturday March 8, a Los Angeles police officer was killed in a collision with a semi-truck. The wreck occurred around 10 a.m. Central time on a residential street in Beverly Hills. A rookie officer was injured, as was the driver of the truck. A 40-year old veteran police officer lost his life, and left behind a wife and two young children.

Traffic accidents can happen anywhere and to anyone. Even on a quiet street. Even to an experienced driver. Large trucks can do considerable damage to smaller vehicles in any accident. The speed at which they travel may not even be a factor in the destruction that is caused.

With that said, we can all think of eighteen-wheelers barreling down the highway at excessive speeds. We may not know what stresses the drivers are under to deliver their freight on time. We may not know what foreign substances they may use to stay awake, or cope with long hours and long trips across the country. But we do know what could happen if disaster strikes.

Truck accidents often occur without warning. If you know someone that needs a truck accident attorney in Houston, make sure to point him or her to someone that can be trusted. A firm such as Kirkendall Dwyer LLP will walk you through your rights. Dealing with the fallout from a trucking accident can be very difficult. Besides the obvious pain and trauma, there will be medical bills and lost wages if you are unable to work. To make matters worse, trucking companies will likely go to great lengths to try and prove their company and their driver was not responsible. Call an attorney that will take care of you when you need it most.
